Cheek fillers are one of the most important and misunderstood types of dermal filler with unique rejuvenate power.

Ageing of the face is demonstrated by loss of skin elasticity and loss of volume to both bone and fat pads distributed throughout the face. Loss of this volume in the midface causes squaring and exacerbates nasolabial folds, marionette lines and jowls.

By restoring this volume, we can restore the face's youthful V shape and help to soften folds and lift sagging in the lower face.
The cheek can be separated into three distinct zones:

The anterior cheek fat pad
The bony cheek
And the pre-auricular fat pad (the space in front of the ear)

Strategically restoring volume in these fat pads can not only restore the appearance of the cheek area itself, but can restore the youthful V shape. This also helps to soften folds and laxity in the lower part of the face.
A treatment plan consisting of dermal filler to the anterior cheek fat pads, bony cheek and nasolabial folds has combined to effectively soften the nasolabial folds, rejuvenate the hollow anterior cheek and create a V shaped face.
Cheek fillers can also be used in a more targeted approach to enhance just one of these areas in isolation.
A good example of this is using 1ml of dermal filler directly over the actual cheekbone (bony cheek). This will increase the contour of the cheeks, improving the light reflex and giving more of a V shape to the face.

Volumising the anterior cheek fat pad helps to give a more youthful appearance to the face and can also help support the tear trough, reducing the dark shadow caused by the tear trough groove.

FAQs
How long do the results last?
Typically cheek filler results last around 10-14 months
When Will I See the Results?
The results are apparent immediately, however it will usually take 2 weeks before the filler settles and swelling is completely resolved.
What is the Downtime?
This will vary from person-to-person. Some will have no bruising and very mild swelling that is gone within a day or two, whereas some will have noticeable bruising and slightly more pronounced swelling that can take a few days to fully settle. We would always encourage our patients to plan for the more noticeable outcome.
Will it Hurt and How Long Does it Take?
We use a topical numbing cream prior to injecting which is generally very effective. Whilst you can often still feel a small scratch when being injected, it's a generally very well tolerated procedure. The procedure itself can take between 15-45 minutes depending on complexity.
How Much does Cheek Filler Cost?
