What is Hyperhidrosis?

Hyperhidrosis is a condition where the sweat glands overproduce sweat in areas such as the underarms.

This can occur regardless of temperature or activity level, however these can severely exacerbate it, and can disrupt your life by causing constant dampness, discomfort, or embarrassment.

How Does Botox Treat Hyperhidrosis?

Botox works by blocking the signals that trigger the sweat glands to produce sweat. When injected into the skin, Botox temporarily paralyzes the nerves that stimulate sweat production, reducing the amount of sweat that is produced in the treated area.

Whats Does the Procedure Involve?

The procedure involves injecting Botox into the armpit/underarm areas of the skin using a very fine needle. A topical anaesthetic will be applied prior to minimise discomfort. The treatment usually takes about 30 minutes to complete and patients can return to their normal activities immediately after.

How long does the procedure take?

Topical anaesthetic is applied before the procedure, once removed the procedure takes around 20 minutes.

How Long does the Treatment Last?

The effects of Botox on sweating typically lasts up to 6 months, after which the treatment can be repeated. Side effects are generally mild and can include mild discomfort, redness, or bruising at the injection site.
