What are Marionette Lines?

Marionette lines are vertical wrinkles or folds that extend from the corners of the mouth down towards the chin. They are named after the lines on a marionette puppet's face, which give the appearance of a hinged jaw.

Often the the overlying skin develops superficial lines due to the lack of volume support underneath.

Dermal filler can be placed at multiple depths within the marionette lines to effectively soften them.

When treating the the deep tissue volume loss, any superficial lines can be addressed with a softer filler to further help improve the area,

FAQs

How long do the results last?

Typically marionette line filler results last around 8-12 months

When Will I See the Results?

The results are apparent immediately, however it will usually take 2 weeks before the filler settles and swelling is completely resolved.

What is the Downtime?

This will vary from person-to-person. Some will have no bruising and very mild swelling that is gone within a day or two, whereas some will have noticeable bruising and slightly more pronounced swelling that can take a few days to fully settle. We would always encourage our patients to plan for the more noticeable outcome.

Will it Hurt and How Long Does it Take?

We use a topical numbing cream prior to injecting which is generally very effective. Whilst you can often still feel a small scratch when being injected, it's a generally very well tolerated procedure. The procedure itself can take between 10-20 minutes depending on complexity.
